In trades where prices follow gold and silver, every quote starts with checking today's rate and recalculating by hand or in a spreadsheet. When the market moves, the numbers are already out of date. Generic rate apps show the spot price but not what it means for your products, units and margins.
We built Zari Windows for the jari and precious metals trade: a subscription app on Android, iOS and web with live bullion rates, jari-specific pricing and a calculator suite.
What a live rate app for a trade should do
- Live rates: spot prices pushed to every user the moment they change.
- Trade pricing: spot rates converted into the trade's own reference rates automatically.
- Calculators: the conversions and valuations people do every day, built in.
- Subscriptions: paid access across web and both app stores.
- Community: announcements and notices to everyone in the trade.
"Zari Windows gives our traders live rates and accurate calculations in one place. The subscription model works smoothly across platforms." — Harshalbhai Maroliya, Zari Windows client
Where this fits
The same approach suits any trade that prices from a market rate: jari, bullion and jewellery, and other metal-linked businesses. On its own it gives traders live pricing; connected to inventory and billing software, the rate flows straight into invoices.
What drives the scope
- Rate sources: one market feed vs several, and how often they update.
- Pricing formulas: how many products and units need their own calculation.
- Billing: free, paid on the web, or paid inside both app stores.
- Platforms: Android only, or Android, iOS and web.
How we build it
Zari Windows is one Flutter codebase for Android, iOS and web, on a Node.js backend with PostgreSQL, Prisma and Redis, hosted on Google Cloud. It took about four months with two engineers.
